This weekend I'm going to Canmore, AB to attend my cousin's wedding. I can't wait! My whole family will be there, which is awesome, I've never been to Alberta, so that's cool too, and Heather and Sean are so happy and in love that celebrating their wedding is going to be a really great time. So of course, a weekend away means that I've got to get all my travel knitting organized. I'll be bringing my second Seastone Leyburn sock, it'll be finished in no time. The second sock seems to somehow be decidedly more yellow then the first... these crazy socks just got a little bit crazier!
I'm also planning on casting on for a new sweater for Stella. I'm torn as to what yarn to knit it in. I've narrowed it down to 2 stash options, I'm pretty sure that both will eventually become Stella sweaters, it's just a question of which one first. Option number one is my own aran weight yarn in an "accidental" colourway:
It's very similar to Stormy, but with a brighter blue, I quite like it, and think that it would make a lovely sweater. The next choice, which is what I had originally intended to use before I remembered that I had the above skeins, is Araucania Yarns Magallanes, 4 skeins that I picked up on super sales at Elann a while back.
And just incase you've forgotten how cute my little Stella is, here she is sitting with me as I eat an apple. She loves apples and sits like this every time I eat one. It cracks me up!
arucania yarns tend to vary widely between skeins. They dye each separately I believe, so they suggest striping two skeins to balance a project.
ReplyDeleteVery nice choices, but I agree on the second. By the way please let Stella know she is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteI like the second option as well. Stella is adoraable. Beau sits and watches me while I eat apples too...acutally I guess he does that when I eat anything! Stella I hope you have a nice weekend away and I will see you soon!
ReplyDeleteJust slipped over here from Glenna's blog, and have observations:
ReplyDelete1) You make gorgeous yarn, which I've been coveting on your Etsy site. (Blue label, Olive colorway. Need to convince myself to buy yarn I haven't touched for socks I can't knit yet.) I'd be delighted to have a neighbor drying that on her balcony near me!
2) The first set of possible colors for Stella's new sweater exactly matches the stormy sea/sky picture posted recently on Yarn Harlot. :) I love them. If you haven't looked, go look. The resemblance is really cool.
3) Of course the roving was glowing! It's *silk*! :D
4) Pretty pretty please put some thrummed mitten kits up in your Etsy store soon? Autumn arrived with a vengence in Minnesota this past Sunday and I'm fairly sure I could get over my "but I haven't touched it!" issues for thrummed mittens. It gets cold here. And dark. I'm sure you understand. :)
Keep up the awesome work -- I *know* I will have to acquire yarn from you at some point because you make yummy colors.
