Halloween

Trellis for Elliot

Trellis, knit in Tanis Fiber Arts Green Label Aran weight yarn in the Amber colourway. Currently drying after a nice long soak. Buttons have been purchased, once they are sewn on and this wee sweater is ready for its photo shoot, an FO post will follow.

I have a confession to make. I kind of hate Halloween. I keep hearing from friends and bloggers that Halloween is their favorite holiday ever... but the truth is, though I do love candy and am looking forward to seeing cute little kids trick-or-treating, I hate spiders, creepy things, spooky things and especially gross things. Halloween is just not for me.

Having said that, I am perfectly capable of putting my feelings aside to carve some cute pumpkins. Chris and I each picked a pumpkin. Mine will be a sweet, happy pumpkin. Don't worry, those perfect tiny pumpkins shown above are not our carving pumpkins, they are our cute indoor pumpkins. And that's pretty much as Halloween-y as I get.

  1. I don't really get Halloween either. For me, it's seriously all about Christmas. But I married a Halloween fan, so I try to be game about it all.

If those are pie (or sugar) pumpkins, they can also become yummy baked pumpkin to be used in pies or muffins. (Big jack-o-lantern pumpkins aren't good.) Trim the stem off, cut pumpkin in half north-to-south, put on cookie sheet with 1/4 inch of water and bake at 350 for 60-90 minutes (until fork tender). Scrape pulp and drain in paper towel-lined colander at least an hour. Freeze in 1-cup portions if desired. Yum!

  3. I'm not that jazzed about Halloween either. but I love giving out candy to trick or treaters- the kids in their costumes are adorable!! And the really wee ones, who are obviously still getting the hang of it.... just SO cute!

  4. Thank you, I do not feel so alone now. I have never been a Halloween fan. My husband loves it and I am happy because he bought little pumpkins like yours and a pie or two is heading my way.
