I woke up this morning feeling very lucky. Yesterday's Etsy update was a success, which is always a bit overwhelming. I love what I do, dyeing, designing, running TFA, and the fact that you all appreciate it enough to make it possible for me to do this as a career is incredible. Chris, Stella and I all thank you very much. Our lives aren't glamourous, I spend most days in my pajamas, we have a modest house and we stay in most nights, but we spend our days together doing what we're passionate about and that makes us feel incredibly lucky.
I'm working away at a very simple, no-frills, v-neck pullover in a ooak colourway. It coordinates quite nicely with my latest bit of handspun!

You're so blessed to be able to do what you love, and to be surrounded with your beautiful yarn and gorgeous dyes. There are so many people, myself included, who would live to be able to make a living doing what they love. The most important thing though, is how appreciative you are of it, which comes across so clearly in your blog :-) Love the handspun too!
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how the handspun and the sweater are in sync! I love your life, it sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed so lucky! I would love to be doing what you are....enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteYour unglamorous life sounds wonderful to me. I wish I could go to work in my pajamas too. I mostly have to save doing what I love for the evenings and weekends but isn't lovely the way me doing what I love lets me support you doing what you love :)
ReplyDeletePlease, which colorway is that? It is incredibly beautiful, but I can't find "ooak" in your list of colors. (Really, not trying to be snarky. That's what it says above.) Putting the blog and the website side by side, it looks like Atlantic... would that be right?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
Genia
Love your work Tanis!!
ReplyDeleteGenia - ooak stands for One of a Kind! So unfortunately this colourway isn't available on my website. I would say that the closest match is Teal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your response, Tanis. I'll remember about the One of a Kind abbreviation.

Love reading posts like this! (So inspirational.) And now you've got me itching to start spinning...
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed blessed.
ReplyDeleteI'm close to retirement age now and can honestly say that I've loved the 2 working chapters of my adult life. Most people are not so lucky and are either indifferent or hate what they do for a living. I can identify totally with what you are saying and really enjoyed reading your statement of appreciation.
Within the last couple of years I have rediscovered and embraced knitting and just love spending my "spare" time knitting and/or learning about knitting. Finding and reading you blog has certainly contributed to that and I thank you for being there.
Keep up the great work/play :-)
I always love reading people being appreciative of what they have! We do are very fortunate to have you too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThere are so few people who love their jobs. The fact that both of you love what you do and get to do it together is awesome!
